Introduction

  • Medorrhinum is a sycotic nosode, prepared from the gonorrhoeal discharge.

  • It represents the sycotic miasm—marked by overgrowth, excess, and suppression.

  • Acts especially on the genito-urinary organs, nervous system, and mucous membranes.


Mental Symptoms

  • Forgetful — cannot remember names, words, or what he was about to do.

  • Hurried and impulsive — does everything in a rush, always in a hurry.

  • Despondent and hopeless, especially in the morning.

  • Dual personality — alternates between excitement and depression.

  • Extreme irritability, especially when contradicted.

  • Anxious and restless at night, fears something will happen.

  • Feels as if someone is behind him, constantly looking over the shoulder.

  • Time passes too slowly; feels days are too long.

  • Wants to be in open air, better at seashore.


Guiding Symptoms

  • Great weakness and fatigue, especially in the morning.

  • Marked tendency to catarrhal discharges — greenish, thick, offensive.

  • Craving for oranges and unripe fruits, and desire to eat ice.

  • Worse from damp, stormy weather (sycotic keynote).

  • Complaints from suppression of gonorrhea or after repeated vaccinations.

  • History of warts, asthma, and rheumatism in family background.

  • Sleeps in knee–chest position, especially children.

  • Better at the seaside, loves fresh air.


Important Particulars

  • Head: Dull headache with weakness and forgetfulness.

  • Eyes: Inflammation with thick green discharge; photophobia in the morning.

  • Respiratory: Asthmatic breathing; worse in damp weather; better at sea.

  • Genitalia: Profuse, offensive, greenish leucorrhoea in females; chronic gonorrhoea in males.

  • Extremities: Trembling, weakness, rheumatic pains in joints, worse damp weather.

  • Skin: Warts, eruptions, eczema, acne.

  • Sleep: Restless; sleeps in knee–elbow position; vivid dreams.


Modalities

  • Aggravation: Daytime, warmth of bed, damp and stormy weather, thinking of complaints.

  • Amelioration: At seaside, in open air, lying on abdomen, knee–chest position, after sleep.


Constitutional Type

  • Suited to sensitive, nervous, restless persons with a sycotic background.

  • Children who are weak, nervous, and sleep with their hips raised.
